Due to a major release change in SPOT, the newest package version SPOT 2.0 on CRAN is currently not compatible with TDMR 1.4 (Tuned Data Mining in R). Therefore TDMR 1.4 is currently archived on CRAN. We are working on an update. For the time being:
You can download TDMR 1.4 together with the last compatible SPOT 1.1.0 from the CIOP web site. Please follow the installation instructions here on our download page.

It was a big and nice surprise for us at "IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence" (IEEE SSCI 2016), a conference held in Athens, Greece, from 6th to 9th of December, 2016: After presenting her recent research work related to online model selection for constrained optimization, Samineh Bagheri won the Best Student Paper Award for it. We are delighted to announce that our recent research work related to online model selection for constrained optimization has been accepted for publication and it will be presented at "IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence" (IEEE SSCI 2016). The SSCI 2016 conference will be held in Athens, Greece, from 6th to 9th of December, 2016. Many plenary and keynote talks are planned in the wide field of computational intelligence.

There is a new teaching activity at Campus Gummersbach, which offers refugees some orientation and preperatory input for possible later studies at a German university. At the same time it is the aim to strengthen the language competence of the refugees. The learning opportunity comprises the areas of computer science, economics and mathematics and is held by the initiating professors Stefan Bente, Stefan Eckstein and Wolfgang Konen. There is a new combinatorics e-learning framework available at www.gm.fh-koeln.de/kombinatorik/en. This tool allows you to strenghen your combinatorics competence with a set of quiz questions. The combinatorics framework was developed by a student group under my supervision. We made a German and an English version, to facilitate the use of this e-learning framework for our foreign students. Thanks go to Lukas Syla, who made this nice feature with the flag buttons allowing a fast switch between English and German content!

The 25th Workshop Computational Intelligence 2015, an annual conference held by Computational Intelligence (CI) Chapter of VDI-GMA (Gesellschaft für Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik) in Dortmund, has attributed the Young Author Award to Samineh Bagheri, PhD, scientific member of my research group at Campus Gummersbach. I am very happy for her and congratulate her cordially!
The research group supervised by Prof. Wolfgang Konen from TH Köln has a collaboration with the Natural Computing group (head: Prof. Thomas H.W. Bäck) of the LIACS Computer Science department at Leiden University. On October,16th, 2015, a seminar took place in Leiden, Netherlands, in which both groups presented their recent research works.
Ms. Samineh Bagheri has won the 3rd price in the annual Erzquell award with her master thesis „Efficient Surrogate Assisted Optimization for Constrained Black-Box Problems“. My most cordial congratulations to her! This thesis is part of the MONREP project (Model-based Optimization for Nonlinear, REstricted Production processes) and it was conducted under my supervision. Samineh Bagheri did a great job in her thesis, she carried out complicated computer experiments and showed that certain constrained optimization problems can be solved with much less function evaluations than there are usually required in other state-of-the-art optimization algorithms like genetic or evolutionary algorithms. The main idea of her thesis is to use flexible models, which are built during the optimization run. Ms. Bagheri uses Radial Basis Function (RBF) models for that purpose.

The DAAD price of Cologne University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) goes this year to Campus Gummersbach. The Iranian master student Samineh Bagheri from the Master programme "Automation & IT" is awarded with this price. My cordial congratulations!
